Employee of the Year!

Brazos Valley Communications hosted its First Annual Awards Banquet last Thursday night. It was awesome! It was a really a great opportunity to get all employees from all 5 radio stations together at one time. You know DJ's...just say the words "free food" and we're there. Throw in a couple of cool awards/prizes and we'll even get dressed up!

I received a couple of amazing recognitions. It was a thrilling night for me. I pulled a 19% market share for my show. What does that mean? It means the number one rated radio show!!!! YES!!! Thanks to each of you who listen. I'm continuously impressed by the loyalty of KORA listeners. You make my job FUN!

And then, as if I wasn't beaming already, I was awarded Employee of the Year! The best part about that award is that it was voted on by my peers. What a great honor!

I love my job! It's so nice to know that people enjoy my show and that the people I work with recognize the time and effort I put into each day. It's what keeps me coming back day after day.

My favorite part of the whole night...getting to bust out a fun dress to wear. This is a picture of me and John Seigler, sales manager for Brazos Valley Communications. Get a good look because today I'm back in my jeans and a t-shirt : )

Quality Time with the Neighbors

The weather was so nice yesterday afternoon that Emrie and I decided to take our play time outside. We hung out, played with some toys, ate some leaves and grass (well, she did not me) and then got to have spend some QT with our neighbors Mr. & Mrs. Smith. They are such a blessing. They were the first ones to greet us when we moved in. They prayed with us when we were trying to get pregnant. They counseled us when we were arguing. They've endured (not to be confused with endeared) Judy. And they love Emrie just like she is one of their own grandbabies. And, Emrie loves spending time with them.

7 months!

Emrie turned 7months old this past Friday. She's getting to be such a big girl. She's crawling EVERYWHERE! She has 8 teeth. So far, she's eaten and enjoyed every food she's tried - even her veggies. And, her new thing is to clap and laugh when she gets excited.

She is truly a precious gift from God.

Don't you wish you could sleep like that?

Emrie has had a bad sinus infection. Sunday and Monday were pretty bad. She had high fever and simply could not breathe. The antibiotics finally kicked in yesterday afternoon and by 7pm she was feeling better...she had her appetite back and she didn't seem as congested. Thank you God! Honestly, I'd rather change a hundred dirty diapers then have to use that little aspirator to suck the snot of her nose - neither one of us enjoyed that!

She slept pretty well last night until the storm blew in so I put her in bed with me. When I got up at 6am this is how she looked. I couldn't help myself ...I had to risk waking her with the flash and take this picture. She slept right through it! So here she is...my little Mootz...cuttin' some zzzzzzzz.

I forgot to mention...

I almost forgot to mention more teeth are on the way!

Emrie was on my lap last night and threw her head back for a hearty, mouth wide open laugh when I noticed something in her mouth. Sweet little Mootzie is getting some top teeth now. She already has three on the bottom. Well, now she has three coming through on top to match. I wasn't able to catch a picture of them but I could offer the bite marks on my finger as evidence : )

I love my little Mootz! She has brought so much joy to my life. Even on my worst days she can make me smile. It's become a habit for me to call her that...Mootz or Mootzie. She responds to those names. She doesn't always respond to Emrie - selective hearing, maybe.

She enjoys looking at the baby in the mirror. She gets all excited trying to touch her and kick at her. It's the running joke that the baby in the mirror is her friend Emrie. Poor Mootzie...I mean Emrie...she has no idea what her name is!

I realize this blog is way more fun to read with pictures so I've included two pics of Mootz from last Sunday opening her Christmas present from her Uncle Robert and Aunt Katherine. We had dinner with them Saturday night and finally got the chance to exchange presents. As you can tell, she loved eating the wrapping paper almost as much as she loved the building blocks.

Bring Your Baby to Work Day

Emrie wasn't feeling well yesterday so I picked her up early from day care and took her to work with me. She had a late doctor appointment so she hung out in the office for an hour or so. She had a great time crawling all over the place. And again, even with all the toys I brought along, she still played with my water bottle the most.

Ummm...it wasn't until I snapped this picture and took a look at it that I realized she was sitting on a bunch of floor outlets chewing on a half full water bottle. YIKES!!!

We have movement! Life will never be the same!

Last night it finally happened! Emrie crawled. I was sitting on the couch and she was playing on her TAMU blanket with her favorite toys. I went to the kitchen to grab some water and when I turned around she was right behind me. I was so excited I did a little cheer and my happy dance which scared her a little so she crawled back into the living room.

I spent the rest of the night moving all over the house to see how long it would take her to catch up. The answer: not long. So long pretty candle holders, farewell tiny trinkets and goodbye to anything else she can get her little fingers on. You're all going on a trip way, way, way up high.

Roger Creager!

Yes ladies...I got to hang out with Roger Creager yesterday. Eat your heart out!

He was in the studio during the Big Lunch Rush to talk about his brand new CD called Surrender which was being released yesterday.

He's Fightin' Texas Aggie class of '93 just like me. I think we had MATH 142 together at TAMU back in the day. He said he remembers me cause I'm so cute.

Blahahaha! I could just eat him up!

Emrie's Big Day

Yesterday was Emrie's first day at day care. My parents are still keeping her a couple days a week for me but the rest of the week she's attending Brazos Valley KIDZ Academy in downtown Bryan. As you can tell from the picture she's not too sure whether she should smile or cry.

Well, I'm happy to report that she had a great day and an even better night. She went to sleep on her own in her own bed and slept for 7 hours straight! I actually had to wake her up to nurse instead of the other way around. I have a feeling it won't be long before she's snoozing for a solid 8 to 10 hours a night. I can hardly wait!

Awwww...my little Mootzie is growing up so fast.

I got a Glock for Christmas!

That's right. I'm a pistol packin' mamma! I got a Glock for Christmas and finally had the chance to try it out yesterday. I went out to my parent's ranch in Deanville for a little target practice and I was actually pretty good once I got my groove on. Now, I want learn the ins and outs like how to take it apart and put it back together and of course how to take out a zombie should the occasion arise.

3 Big Teeth

Emrie is 28 weeks old today. She has 3 teeth (all on the bottom) and continues to use them as she experiments with a wide variety of food. Although to look at her after she's eaten, you'd swear she didn't get any of it in her mouth.

She's trying to crawl. She manages to get up on all fours, rock back and forth and then BAM she flips over on her back. It won't be long though before she's mobile and then watch out!

She loves being outside. The weather's been so nice this week that she's spent a lot of time in our yard in her exersaucer or in the garage in her walker. Ahhh the walker...it's become a source of frustration for her as so far she's only been able to scoot backwards.

Hang in there Mootzie!

Another picture from Emrie's first Christmas...

I was looking at some old pictures I took with my phone and realized I hadn't posted this one yet. So, here it is another picture from Emrie's first Christmas!
