Such a big (or should I say long) girl!

Emrie will be 9months old on Sunday, April 1. No foolin'. I snapped a picture of her this morning to give you an idea of just how much she has grown. She was 11 weeks old in the picture on the left. She has gotten so LONG!

You know, they really do grow up too fast. Each day with her has been such a blessing. And even on the long nights when she's up every couple of hours I wouldn't trade one minute of sleep deprivation for all the joy she has brought into our lives. Children really are a gift from God.

I have no words

What it the world is he wearing? Those white socks and loafers have got to go!

Our backyard is back!

The drought last year really took a toll on our backyard. Between that and our two wild and crazy dogs we pretty much had no grass left. Well, week before last Brian got a shot of spring fever and decided to till the entire backyard. Afterwards, not only did we not have any grass we had mud and lots of it because of all the recent rain. But I guess that was actually a good thing because the ground was soft and ready for planting. So this weekend, Brian and my dad covered our entire backyard with fresh, new, bright and shiny green grass! It looks so beautiful. Now the trick will be to get it to grow and keep it alive through the summer.

My EYES!!!

Pretty gross looking, huh? Scared the poop out me! I woke up this morning and my eyes were really swollen and had huge bags under them (see picture). I'm not really sure what happened but my best guess is....
1) I put on a bunch of sunblock before my Team of Navasota remote broadcast yesterday. I knew I was going to be in the sun on bright white pavement for several hours and I'm a "delicate flower" so I lathered up with some 50 block to be on the safe side. I put it everywhere but under my eyes.
2) When I got home from my remote I showered, changed and drove to Brenham. I'm pretty sure I washed a bunch of waterproof sunblock right into my eyes. Immediately after I started to notice little welts under my eyes.
3) I woke up this morning with a double shot of ugly where my eyes should have been.
So, my best guess taking into consideration 1, 2, and 3 from above...first of all I got sunburned because I didn't put any sunblock around my eyes and then I had an allergic reaction to the sunblock when I tried to wash it off and managed to get it in my EYES! They look gross and they really hurt. Next time I think I'll just opt for a hat and sunglasses.

My two sweeties!

I snapped this picture this morning as Brian and Emrie were on their way out the door to go to "Big School." She was in such a good mood that I wish I could have stayed home with her today but duty calls...even when I'm sick.

Emrie threw up a few times on Sunday. We weren't sure if she was sick or if it was the result of the microphone cover she ate. That's right ATE IT RIGHT OFF THE MICROPHONE. She was at the station with me and decided the foam cover on the microphone would make a tasty treat. I got it away from her but not before she had gotten a couple good chomps out of it. So, we thought maybe that's what was making her throw up. It wasn't until Monday night when Brian started throwing up that we were sure she had a virus. Then last night when I started throwing up we were REALLY sure it was a virus.

Emrie is back to her old self. Brian went to work and I'm feeling better too...and a little thinner so hopefully this ugly bug has worked its way through our household.

The lesson I've learned...IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THOROUGHLY CHEW YOUR FOOD (or microphone cover).

Happy Baby...Sad Baby

Emrie was in such a good mood this morning! She slept right through all the thunder and lightning and woke up refreshed and excited! I grabbed my camera and snapped a quick picture while I was holding her. As you can see she was all smiles. So, I thought this would be a great morning to get an updated picture of her on her pillow pet to show everyone how much she's grown. Well, that did it. I sat her down and she got mad. She did not want her picture taken. Hence the happy baby, sad baby pictures which were taken within about 30 seconds from one another! She's still beautiful even with her sad baby face on. I can't wait to show her these pictures when she get's older.

Rodeo Houston

Brian and I took Aiden to the rodeo on Saturday. He rode pretty much every ride there. His favorite ride was Zero Gravity - the one that sucks you tight to the wall and then moves you from a horizontal spin to a vertical spin. He didn't actually watch the ride before he got on...he just ran up to and got on. So, Brian and I watched as Aiden rode the ride and mouthed the words "Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God" over and over again. He looked scared to death BUT that one ended up being his favorite and he rode it two more times before we left. It was a great time!

Emrie spent the day with her Pawpaw and Grandma Eneks. When I called to check in on her Grandma Chris said both Emrie and Pawpaw were sound asleep. Emrie was snorting and Pawpaw was snoring. Man I wish she could have gotten a video of the two them! While she missed that America's Funniest Home Video moment, I managed to catch a funny moment of the two of them "growling" at each. Emrie was on her Pawpa's lap at the kitchen table. Pawpa would let out a little "grrr" noise and Emrie would answer back with her own "grrrr." It was awesome. It was like they had their own language.

Sleepy Baby

This has got to be the sweetest picture in the world! Yesterday when I got home Brian and Emrie were just getting out of his jeep. Emrie was sound asleep. We stood in the driveway and talked for a while before going inside and she never even twitched. That "big school" (that's what we call daycare) really takes it out of her.

She had a "blow out" and had to change clothes. Well, the outfit in the picture is the extra change of clothes we had left at daycare way back when she first started. As you can tell, she's packed into it like a little sausage : )

Only sweet little babies can get by with their mid-drift sticking out like that!

Mootzie's new trick

My dad kept Mootzie on Monday for us. When I got home he couldn't wait to show me her new "trick." He handed her the water bottle. She took and drink and then when she was finished let out a big ol "AHHHH." That little toot! I almost spewed the water I was drinking right out of my nose. So now thanks to her Mufasa, Emrie cannot take a drink without saying AHHHH when she's finished. It's just too funny!

Emrie is also trying so hard to walk. She pulls up on everything and then walks along the side of the furniture (holding on of course). She has a walker but she refuses to sit in it. Instead, she likes to hold on and walk behind it. She's made it all the way across the living room without falling down. She also got this little scooter thing for Christmas (in picture). It's supposed to help her walk...she prefers to eat it.

Spellcheck anyone?

This sign was posted in the elevator at Texas A&M University. Read closely. CAUCION?! Really? Good grief. Please tell me this sign was not posted by an A&M grad!

Blurry Picture

I snapped this picture of sweet little Mootzie this morning. She's feeling much better by the way. I know it's blurry but the look on her face was so cute I had to share it anyway. I love it! She's like..."I didn't do it! Come on Mom. Look at my face. Would I lie to you?"

Late Night Snack

With Emrie out of commission (home sick with a virus) Brian did the grocery shopping for me. He did pretty well considering he refuses to use a list! Anyhoo, he picked up two pints of Ben & Jerry's ice cream. I just had a quick, itty bitty sample of a new flavor called Late Night Snack. I LOVE IT! It's my new favorite and I didn't even have to wait til late tonight to have some!!! For those of you who doubt my taste buds try it for yourself. It's vanilla bean ice cream with a caramel swirl and chocolate covered potato chip clusters. Can I get a big YUM?!

Another sick day...

Last week Brian had a terrible stomach virus...then Aiden came home with it on Friday...and NOW Mootzie has it. She's thrown up several times and has diarrhea. Not a fun day. She just woke up from a 3 hour nap and she seems to be feeling somewhat better. No throwing up since before lunch and she's only had one really big, bad poopy diaper since around 11am...of course she's been sleeping so now that she's up and mobile again that could all change real fast.

We've been hanging out together all day. Just finished watching the new Footloose movie. Emrie was not impressed. I have to agree with her. There's only room for one Rin McCormick...and that's Kevin Bacon.

Just snapped this picture of her in her exer-saucer. She's just not feelin' it today.

Emrie and Her Mufasa

Look at those two! What a pair. These are the two smiling faces that greeted me Friday after a long day of work! Emrie spent the day with her Mufasa (my dad). They had just come back from a walk and were chillaxin' in the garage when I pulled up.

Daddy said they had just gotten back from their third stroll of the day. Right now she's content to ride BUT it won't be long before she's walking...and running! Then it'll be fun to see who takes who for a stroll!
