Amy just sent me a couple of pictures of Emrie and Addix hanging out. It looks like everybody is still having fun. I can't lie. I'm a little jealous that I'm stuck at work!
That little toot had managed to totally climb into the cabinet and pull one of the doors shut. As you can see from the pictures, her little foot was still very visible from the other side. So I was like "Where's Emrie?" and BOO she'd pop out! This game went on for about 10 minutes.
Emrie was in an absolutely wonderful mood this morning. The meds she's taking are doing the trick. This morning...NO DIARHEA! And, she had kisses for everyone. Mommy, Daddy, and even Judy got a kiss or lick or something along those lines. She normally saves the most slobberist ones for me...but I'm not complaining. Kisses and hugs from Emrie are the best!
We've been thinking about getting Emrie her very own chair for some time now. We spent the weekend with Brian's parents in Houston and while we were there Emrie ran back and forth between a little blue plastic chair in living room to the bottom step on the staircase. Those were her two chairs - both the perfect height for her to sit and swing her legs. So, on the way home we made a pit stop at Toys R Us to get her a chair. I was totally pumped because there was a SALE! Yes, it's one of my favorite words. And, all furniture was 25% off! Emrie was exhausted and passed out the minute we left Pawpaw and Grandma's house so she and Brian stayed in the car while I went in for the chair.
We spent the weekend with Grandma and Pawpaw Eneks' house. Emrie had a blast. She loves the stairs at their house. She climbs up and down and up and down and up and down. The up part is not so bad because she actually crawls up. It's the going down part that I don't like. We tried to teach her how to scoot down on her butt BUT she insists upon holding onto the handrail and trying to walk down all by herself. She's so independent! She also loves swinging. Pawpaw and Brian spent Saturday afternoon with her outside while Chris (grandma) and I went to get our nails done.
Friday is Emrie's day to hang out with her Mufasa (my dad). Daddy normally gets to our house about 7am but this morning I asked him to come a little early because I had so much stuff to do at the radio station. He rolled in at 6:40am. Perfect! An extra 20 minutes goes a long way in radio. So, I grab all my stuff and I'm ready to leave but before I do I poke my head in to check on Emrie. She's up and starts chattering away at me. I, of course, walk in and snatch her up for morning hugs and kisses (the best). It's after that first kiss that I get a good whiff of her. Whoo...she was a stinker...REALLY. That's when I also notice her bed. Emrie has had a world class blow out! Poop everywhere. My dad takes one look and says "I'll go fix breakfast while you clean her up." Way to take the cowards path, Daddy!
I've talked about them on the radio...now I've got to show them to you! I know they're only shoes but I love them. Is that weird that I love my shoes? My husband says yes. Women out there...you get it, right?!
We packed up and headed south this past weekend and went to visit our good friends Denise and Jason in Kemah. Well actually, they live on Taylor Lake (with the astronauts) but it's just a short boat ride to Kemah. We had a great time! The guys went boating on Saturday and the ladies (including Emrie) went to the pool. She had a blast. Her Uncle Robert and Aunt Katherine got her the neatest floaty complete with a sun visor for her birthday so she was cruisin' the pool in style. Saturday night we cooked fajitas and enjoyed the rain. And then Sunday we got up early and boated over to the Kemah Boardwalk. Aiden and Josiah (Denise and Jason's son) had a blast riding all the big kid rides. Emrie and I (who could both ride for free since she was under a year and a half old) took in all the kiddie rides. She loved the airplane ride. The first time we rode it she sat next to me in the back of the plane. Yes, it was a tight fit. The second, third and fourth times, she rode in the front and me in the back. She was so busy turning the wheel and pushing buttons that I'm not sure she actually realized the plane was going up and down. She also liked the faris wheel and I'm not talking about the kiddie faris wheel. We rode that one too but she was not impressed. She wanted to go on the great big one...so she did that twice. She never did warm up to the carousel. I tried putting her on a horse but the minute it started going up and down she had me in a choke hold so we ended up sitting on the bench and going around and around and around.
Yesterday I was getting new tires put on my car when Brian called me in a panic. He had been giving Emrie a bath and stepped into her room to get her favorite bug hoodie towel and when he returned she had a bar of soap stuffed into her mouth! He said he got the soap away from her and most of it out of her mouth but she must have swallowed some. She was very upset and he couldn't get her to stop crying.
I had a program last night at Texas A&M so Brian was in charge of feeding, bathing and getting Emrie to bed. Brian doesn't believe in pj's for her. He normally just puts her to bed in her diaper. I was tickled to see the team USA logo on her little butt when I went in to check on her. How cute is that?
That's how I spent my Monday...ALL DAY MONDAY...doing my civic duty. I was dismissed but it took all day to make that determination. I actually knew one of the witnesses so I'm pretty sure that's what disqualified me. Too bad. I think it was going to be an interesting criminal case. I figured if I was going to be there, I might as well be a juror and see it all the way through. I was talking to Brian about it this morning - that's okay to do because I'm not a juror. Anyway, we believe (this is just our guess) that the case actually involves a guy Brian works with who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident! Isn't that crazy?! What are the odds? Now, I've got to google it to see if we're right.
Yes...it's true. Yesterday was my birthday! I turned the big 41. I was going to lie about my age but then I thought better of it. I have a couple of friends who are sweating the Big 4-0.To them and anyone else who is dreading their upcoming birthday I say embrace it and love it. It really is just a number. Of course I have to say that...I have a one-yr-old at home. I can't get old!![]() |
