Our backyard is back!
The drought last year really took a toll on our backyard. Between that and our two wild and crazy dogs we pretty much had no grass left. Well, week before last Brian got a shot of spring fever and decided to till the entire backyard. Afterwards, not only did we not have any grass we had mud and lots of it because of all the recent rain. But I guess that was actually a good thing because the ground was soft and ready for planting. So this weekend, Brian and my dad covered our entire backyard with fresh, new, bright and shiny green grass! It looks so beautiful. Now the trick will be to get it to grow and keep it alive through the summer.

My EYES!!!
Pretty gross looking, huh? Scared the poop out me! I woke up this morning and my eyes were really swollen and had huge bags under them (see picture). I'm not really sure what happened but my best guess is....1) I put on a bunch of sunblock before my Team of Navasota remote broadcast yesterday. I knew I was going to be in the sun on bright white pavement for several hours and I'm a "delicate flower" so I lathered up with some 50 block to be on the safe side. I put it everywhere but under my eyes.
2) When I got home from my remote I showered, changed and drove to Brenham. I'm pretty sure I washed a bunch of waterproof sunblock right into my eyes. Immediately after I started to notice little welts under my eyes.
3) I woke up this morning with a double shot of ugly where my eyes should have been.
So, my best guess taking into consideration 1, 2, and 3 from above...first of all I got sunburned because I didn't put any sunblock around my eyes and then I had an allergic reaction to the sunblock when I tried to wash it off and managed to get it in my EYES! They look gross and they really hurt. Next time I think I'll just opt for a hat and sunglasses.

My two sweeties!
Emrie threw up a few times on Sunday. We weren't sure if she was sick or if it was the result of the microphone cover she ate. That's right ATE IT RIGHT OFF THE MICROPHONE. She was at the station with me and decided the foam cover on the microphone would make a tasty treat. I got it away from her but not before she had gotten a couple good chomps out of it. So, we thought maybe that's what was making her throw up. It wasn't until Monday night when Brian started throwing up that we were sure she had a virus. Then last night when I started throwing up we were REALLY sure it was a virus.
Emrie is back to her old self. Brian went to work and I'm feeling better too...and a little thinner so hopefully this ugly bug has worked its way through our household.
The lesson I've learned...IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THOROUGHLY CHEW YOUR FOOD (or microphone cover).

Rodeo Houston
Brian and I took Aiden to the rodeo on Saturday. He rode pretty much every ride there. His favorite ride was Zero Gravity - the one that sucks you tight to the wall and then moves you from a horizontal spin to a vertical spin. He didn't actually watch the ride before he got on...he just ran up to and got on. So, Brian and I watched as Aiden rode the ride and mouthed the words "Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God" over and over again. He looked scared to death BUT that one ended up being his favorite and he rode it two more times before we left. It was a great time!Emrie spent the day with her Pawpaw and Grandma Eneks. When I called to check in on her Grandma Chris said both Emrie and Pawpaw were sound asleep. Emrie was snorting and Pawpaw was snoring. Man I wish she could have gotten a video of the two them! While she missed that America's Funniest Home Video moment, I managed to catch a funny moment of the two of them "growling" at each. Emrie was on her Pawpa's lap at the kitchen table. Pawpa would let out a little "grrr" noise and Emrie would answer back with her own "grrrr." It was awesome. It was like they had their own language.

Sleepy Baby
She had a "blow out" and had to change clothes. Well, the outfit in the picture is the extra change of clothes we had left at daycare way back when she first started. As you can tell, she's packed into it like a little sausage : )
Only sweet little babies can get by with their mid-drift sticking out like that!
