I Am Thankful For...

This Thanksgiving my wonderful little cuddle cakes and I are hosting both sides of the family at our humble abode. I had no idea how much work this would be - the 24 hour holiday has thus far consumed my every free minute since Sunday. Ah yes, Sunday, a day of rest for most turned into a day of massive cleaning for me. And I have no idea why I thought it would be a good idea to clean behind (and under the frig). Have you seen what's back there?! Yowza! Regardless, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to have the whole family together. Okay, I confess, I am even more thankful that I don't have to drive to four different locations this year. Yep...Thanksgiving...it's all about me : )

Oh sure - he hasnt had any recent hits but he's a frickin' country music legend! I'm totally there.

The Muffin Joke

Pretty sure I've heard this one somewhere before but my friend Aimee told me it to me again this morning and I laughed...loud. So, I thought it was worth sharing with you.

Ready?!

Two muffins are sitting in an oven. One muffin looks at the other and says, "Damn it's hot in here." The other muffin screams, "AHHHH!!!! A talking muffin!!"

Get it? A talking muffin? Fine. I'll try again tomorrow.

So I thought I'd take a yoga class - you know, limber up a little maybe destress some...
I must not be doing it right because I actually ended up in the ER Saturday night because I couldn't move. Everything hurt. Could sit, stand, lay down, walk - NOTHING!!! Finally after two shots for pain and a nice assortment of prescription drugs I'm able to get around. Doc told me to sit as little as possible - dang near impossible to do while driving.

The Frito Pie Incident

Thanks to Chris Austin shooting his big mouth off on the radio yesterday, I received several inquiries regarding the "Frito Pie Incident."

As pretty much everyone knows by now, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE carnival food! Funnel cakes, corn dogs, candy apples, anything on a stick...

So at the Burleson County Fair Wednesday night I decided to indulge my cravings and try a little bit of everything. Oh man IT WAS GREAT!!! A little bit of this...a lot of that...a pinch of this...a sampling of that. It wasnt until I was awakened by a sharp pain in my stomach at around 1:30 the next morning that I realized my stomach did not think it was such a great idea afterall.

To make a long story short - let's just say a frito pie tastes much better going down than coming out your nose : )

I Was Robbed...of my fair queen title.

I was robbed...of my fair queen title...AGAIN!

Despite a downpour right in the middle of festivities - the Burleson County Fair Little Miss and Fair Queen Competitions went off without a hitch.

Hope Heisler Savage stole the Little Miss title and our hearts with her version of Taylor Swift's You Belong with Me. There were 15 cuties in all up for the Little Miss title - dolled up from head to toe. My favorite part of the competition was when contestants sang their favorite songs. We heard everything from "This Little Light of Mine" to "The Climb." Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus better watch out!

This year's Burleson County Fair Queen was also crowned last night in Caldwell. Dana Doonan, representative from the Cooks Point 4-H Club, took home this year's crown. Dana, along with three other contestants, were judged on poise, appearance, and a welcome speech as well as a question/answer portion of the contest. Dana was also recognized as the top ticket seller for this year's Burleson County Fair.

Congratulations to all the contestants. You were amazing!

Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes and Fair Queens!

It's going to be a big night in Caldwell this Wednesday as the Burleson Country Fair awards is Little Miss and Queen titles to two lucky contestants. Guess who is going to be one of the renowned judges bestowing the coveted crowns on their little heads...go ahead...guess...

It's me! Brandie Alexander! I always wanted to be a fair queen so I guess this is the next best thing. Besides, they promised me unlimited funnel cake and corn dogs. Now that's a sweet deal. Eat your heart out Roger and Roy!

I Cant Believe I Didn't Know This!

I was watching CMT this morning before work and my boyfriend George came on with his new video for Living for the Night. I love George. So anyway, I'm watching and I start thinking...this look alot like the Houston concert. Guess what?! I googled and YES IT IS HOUSTON!!! I cant believe I didnt know this video was filmed live at Reliant Stadium - I WAS THERE!!!

I've got the bug that's going around...headache, fever, sore thoat, cough. It sucks! I've got to be healthy in time for the George Strait Concert this Saturday!!!

New Hair for George

Gotta look my best for the big show this Saturday in Houston so I'm planning a hair make over on Friday. Got an appointment with the best of the best in downtown Houston. I'll post pics of my new do ASAP. Wonder if i could get a good cut and color to make my butt look smaller?

I dont know about you guys but it has been an extremely long week for me! I'm so glad it's finally Friday! I've got a big show tonight at Harry's. You should come out. The Blue Broussard Band will kick things off around 10pm and then The Bart Crow Band will finish out the night!

Just poked my head outside and it's RAINING!!!

Rain?

Aiden, my 6-year-old, recently upgraded to a new bigger bike - he had a growth sprut about a month ago and looked like a circus clown on the old one. So, for the last few weeks, he and I have been riding bikes every afternoon. It's been great! Not only do we have a chance to have some fun together OUTSIDE, I've found that an hour bike ride on the trails, up and down, up and down, really wears his little butt out! He's sound asleep by 9pm.

What does this have to do with rain? Not much really...other than yesterday on our way up the last big hill to our house we were surprised by a small shower. Honestly, I was so shocked I looked around thinking someone must just have turned their sprinkler on super high. All in all, it was just enough drops to stir up the dust but a little rain is better than no rain.

With that said, I'll leave you with a quote I LOVE about rain!!!

Reflecting on the 4th of July

So I threw out the first pitch at the Brazos Valley Bomber's game on the 4th of July. I not only got it across the plate, I'm pretty sure it was a strike. In fact, now that they've seen my "guns" I think they'll be trying to recruit me : )

Memorial Day Holiday

I had an outstanding Memorial Day Holiday! In keeping with our Memorial Day Movie Marathon I felt it only appropriate I actually go to the movies. I went to see the new Star Trek - yes, I'm one of those people. It was OUTSTANDING! Whether your a "trekkie" or not, you will totally love this action packed sci-fi film.

On Tour with My Boyfriend George

I'm counting the days to the BIG George Strait Concert at Reliant Stadium August 8th! I'm tracking his tour until the big day.

Tomorrow he's in Cincinnati at Riverbend Music Center...

June 6 at Cowboy Stadium in Arlington...

June 28 Milwaukee, Wisconsin...

And then FINALLY in Houston August 8th.

Just another day in paradise...

It is totally Monday!!! I have a family of angry squirrels that call my rooftop home. Every morning I have to sprint to my jeep for fear of being pelted by twigs. This morning as I walked out my from door I was startled by a downpour of leaves as four of these little rascals soared over my head. Squirrels...warm and fuzzy? I think not!
