Update from the weekend

This Sunday we went to a birthday party for my little cousin, Laney.  She was celebrating the big #2!  Emrie had a blast.  There was a bouncy house, barrel train, pinata and pizza!  She bounced and bounced and bounced and only took a break to ride the train or hit the pinata.  As you can tell from the pictures, by the end of the day she was exhausted.

Not morning people...

This morning Emrie and Aiden were both on the couch awaiting their morning orders to get up and get ready.  Emrie was a little more enthusiastic than Aiden...but not much.  Ahhh my babies!

Staff Infections Take the Title

Jon, Melissa, Me, Will Jayson, Zane - all WINNERS

State Employee Charitable Campaign Fundraiser:  Dodgeball Tournament at TAMU today.  My team the Staff Infections went UNDEFEATED!  That's right...not even penicillin can beat us!  I promised I'd post a few pics of my team.  You can't really see them in the pictures but our individual trophies are wrenches because if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!

Will was very confused when he got hit by a ball

Will was doing his best to strike a pose.  Everyone else had their sites set on the team across the court.  I have no idea who I was pointing at but I'm sure they were intimidated.
I gotta send a special shout out to the "band-aids."  They were the best cheerleaders a staff infection could hope for.

Maybe she'll be a school teacher...

Our new thing in the evening is to try to read a book to Emrie before she goes to bed.  I use the word "try" because most of the time she won't sit still long enough to make it through an entire book.  Last night I poked my head into Emrie's room to find that she was "reading" to Aiden.  When I asked Aiden what was going on he said she climbed up into the rocking chair (my usual reading spot), grabbed her book and started flipping pages.  So then I asked Emrie what she was doing.  She just chattered away in her usual baby talk, pointed and pictures and turned the page.  I guess she was reading to me too.  Maybe she'll grow up to be a teacher.

I've lost my arm! I've lost my arm!

Okay not really...but my phone is not working so I feel like I'm missing my right arm.  Sweet little Emrie destroyed it.  It's a sad day.  This morning on my way to work I had nothing to do but drive!!!!  How did it come to this?  I remember my first cell phone.  It was a big bag phone.  Remember those things?  Ahh yes...I would drive around holding the whole bag out the window so I could get a better signal.  Yeah, that was safe.  Speaking of memories, do you remember fuzz busters?  Oh wow!  I thought I was the total bomb because I had one that actually talked.  It would say "Be careful.  Slow down."  It was awesome until one Friday night when I was out cruising on the main drag in Brenham and I took the turn into Sonic a little too fast and my poor little fuzz buster went flying out the window.  Be careful.  Slow dddoooowwwnnn!

Hotel Transylvania...BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!

Quick update from the weekend...

Emrie and Brian both have terrible allergies.  They sneezed and snorted all night long.  I'm not sure who was more tired, me or them.  At least between all the sneezing and snorting, they slept.  I, on the other hand, had to listen to the sneezing and snorting ALL NIGHT LONG!  So...Saturday night or should I say early Sunday morning when I finally was so exhausted that not even a train outside my window would have kept me awake, I slept and slept and slept...right through church and most of the morning.  Sorry about that, God.

Yesterday afternoon, while Brian and Emrie (noses dripping) hung out at the house, Aiden and I decided to go to the movies.  We went to see Hotel Transylvania.  I LOVED IT!  It was a cute story with just enough adult humor and one-liners to keep me entertained.  The best part:  At a random time during the movie Aiden leaned over and said "Thanks for taking me.  Love you."  It was the sweetest moment.  5 minutes later he was back to being a typical 10-year-old and shushed me for laughing too loud!

Very Top Gun...What's That?

This morning Aiden put on Brian's Aviator sunglasses on the way to school.  I told him he looked like Goose to which he argued that geese do not wear sunglasses.  It was at that minute that I realized my Top Gun reference was totally lost on him.

I just googled Top Gun.  The year was....do you know?  Well, do ya?   1986

1986!  No wonder Aiden didn't have a clue, he wasn't even born until 2002.

1986...1996...2006...2012...Top Gun is 26 years old!!!

Wow!  I'm old.

And here's your Emrie update...

Headbump face

Fish lip kisses for daddy

Emrie seems to have even more personality than usual these past few days.  Hard to believe, I know.

She still loves giving headbumps.  That used to be her preference instead of a hug or kiss but now that she has perfected her "fish lips" she's all about kisses.  She kisses me, Brian, Aiden, her baby dolls, her stuffed animals, our doggies and really anyone else who asks for a kiss.  Now Brian is worried she's going to start kissing boys.  I think he has a fear of cooties.  Boy is this going to be fun!!!

It Cant Be Wednesday ALREADY!!!!

I feel like this week has been a blur.  In fact, I should backup to the weekend.

My good friend Andrea's son, Richie got married last weekend.  The bride and groom were on a very tight budget so I volunteered to do the music for them with the stipulation that although I'm a DJ...I'm not that kind of DJ.  So it was a best efforts kind of thing.  I actually ended up doing all the music for the wedding and the reception AND because things just never go as planned I:

Created the order of ceremony
Assisted with the wedding programs
Helped decorate
Made announcements
Served food
Cut cake
Served cake
Cleaned up

All in a days work.

Sunday my feet were killing me.  There are no shoes comfortable enough to stand in from 8am - 9pm!

What's on the tube....

Tig is my SAMCRO favorite

Super funny!

With a 9-yr-old and a 15-mth-old, we don't have a lot of time to actually sit down and watch a lot of TV.  Thanks to Netflix and On Demand for allowing Brian and I the opportunity to catch up on all of our favorites after all the kiddies go to bed.

Scary but addicting

Despite that fact that they killed off Opie, Sons of Anarchy is still by far the favorite in our house.  Wednesday we caught the season premiere of Modern Family - two episodes back-to-back.  It was hilarious!  And, come Sunday our house will be on lockdown for The Walking Dead!  The season 3 premiere is this Sunday.  I can hardly wait.  The show scares the poo out of me but I still HAVE to watch it.  It's disgusting but I can't look away kind of like the "Kramer" (thats for all you Seinfeld fans).

They must get it from their FATHER!!!

Yesterday I posted a picture of Emrie with her finger jammed up her nose...

Well, Brian's sister, Kimberly, sent me one of Aiden when he was two-years-old doing the exact same thing.  It's AWESOME!

Today is Aiden's 10th birthday.  That's right.  He is now in double digits.  Boy he's come a long way from that little nose picker : )

Happy Birthday Aiden!  I love you!

My little genius hard at work...

Yesterday on the way home from church Emrie was entertaining herself.  Don't worry.  I was driving and Brian took the picture.

Ya know...just a few short weeks ago I was thrilled to death when I asked "where's your nose" and she actually pointed to it.  I'm rethinking that glorious moment.

Cupcake Wars!!!

The Admissions Office at Texas A&M has been having Cupcake Wars all week to raise money for the State Employee Charitable Campaign.  Each day there has been a different kind of cupcake to purchase for a $1.  Then at the end of the day today, everyone who sampled gets to vote for their favorite.  Today was my day to bake.

I had no idea how serious the other competitors were but there were some great tasting cupcakes and they were all decorated so awesome!

Monday - Chocolate Surprise
Tuesday - Pumpkin Cheesecake
Wednesday - Peanut Butter Cup
Thursday - Cherry Coke Float
Friday....wait for it....

My cupcake is called...It Tastes Way Better Than It Looks Strawberry Cupcakes.

I tried to make them pretty but I failed miserably.  The good news is they taste absolutely DELICIOUS!

By the way...that is not a picture of my cupcake.  This is, however, what I was shooting for : )

My boy and his dog

It's finally starting to feel like fall.  I love this time of year...crisp mornings...cloudy days...fat clothes : )

All the rain on Saturday kept us inside most of the day - and by us I mean, me, Brian, Aiden, Emrie and JUDY!  As you can tell from the picture, Judy was very comfy on the couch with her boy.  They spent most of the day in that very position.

Sunday I had to work a remote at Cracker Barrel.  It was actually pretty cool.  It combined two of my favorite things:  BREAKFAST and SHOPPING!  The Old Time Country Store had some really cute stuff.  Great Halloween costumes for Emrie...

When I got home, we decided the whole family should take a walk.  Yes...including Judy.  She loves running along the trail.  She sprinted back and forth and back and forth.  Everyone was having a great time until Judy plowed right over Emrie!  Judy knocked her to the ground, licked her face a few times and took off back up the hill.  Yup, that was it for our fun family walk!

All in all though, it was a nice weekend.
