Still having a good time

Enjoying a drink
Wrestling
Amy just sent me a couple of pictures of Emrie and Addix hanging out.  It looks like everybody is still having fun.  I can't lie.  I'm a little jealous that I'm stuck at work!

YeeHa!

Emrie is spending the day at her friend Addix's house.  His mommy, Amy, just sent me this picture.  She looks like she's having fun.

Where's Emrie?

Last night I was washing dishes and Emrie was busy pulling pots and pans out from under the kitchen cabinets.  At one point I turned around and didn't see her...well, not all of her.   That little toot had managed to totally climb into the cabinet and pull one of the doors shut.  As you can see from the pictures, her little foot was still very visible from the other side.  So I was like "Where's Emrie?" and BOO she'd pop out!  This game went on for about 10 minutes.

Just found these pictures

My friend Tara from the radio station took some pictures of Emrie right before her first birthday.  Hard to believe that was almost two months ago.  Anyway, I just found some of the pics that I hadn't published before.  They're so cute I just had to share!

Big Kisses for Daddy!

Emrie was in an absolutely wonderful mood this morning.  The meds she's taking are doing the trick.  This morning...NO DIARHEA!  And, she had kisses for everyone.  Mommy, Daddy, and even Judy got a kiss or lick or something along those lines.  She normally saves the most slobberist ones for me...but I'm not complaining.  Kisses and hugs from Emrie are the best!

Poor Judy.  Emrie loves grabbing her little nub of a tail.  It drives Judy crazy but Emrie finds it entertaining.  I figure it's payback for all the times Judy drove me crazy like when she ate my shoes and my arm brace and my plants and the stuffing out of my pillow and the head off of my girafe!

Emrie's New Trick

Last night Emrie decided that it would be fun to bite the spoon every time I put it in her mouth.  Take a bite of food and take a bite of the spoon.  She'd make a big show of chomping her food and then she'd chomp the spoon.  She looked like Popeye with her spoon wobbling in her mouth like a cigar.  And while she was cute as a bug doing her new trick, I had a battle every time I tried to take the spoon out and get food in!

On a totally different note...I took Emrie to the doctor yesterday because she has had diarrhea for two weeks straight.  According to Dr. Ransom, she has Toddler's Diarrhea and the best thing to do is load her up on lots of fatty foods!  He also said cut back on the fruits and veggies.  So last night Emrie had a little KFC original recipe fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy while I choked down grilled fish and brussel sprouts!

This morning Emrie went to Big School with a note that said "No fruits, fruit juice or veggies."  Weird huh?  Man...why can't I get Toddler's Diarrhea

Emrie's New Chair

We've been thinking about getting Emrie her very own chair for some time now.  We spent the weekend with Brian's parents in Houston and while we were there Emrie ran back and forth between a little blue plastic chair in living room to the bottom step on the staircase.  Those were her two chairs - both the perfect height for her to sit and swing her legs.  So, on the way home we made a pit stop at Toys R Us to get her a chair.  I was totally pumped because there was a SALE!  Yes, it's one of my favorite words.  And, all furniture was 25% off!  Emrie was exhausted and passed out the minute we left Pawpaw and Grandma's house so she and Brian stayed in the car while I went in for the chair.

Emrie loves Minnie Mouse so when I saw this chair I knew it would be just right!  When we got home, I unloaded Emrie and Brian unloaded the chair.  I took her to her room and got her changed and then Brian called her into the living room for her surprise.  She saw her new chair and immediately ran to it bounced on the seat.  Then for the next 30 minutes she ran around the couch, through the kitchen and back to her chair.  It was like it was home base.  She even grabbed her Minnie Mouse doll and sat in her Minnie Mouse chair.  Awww...

Then that little toot realized she could use her new chair as a spring board to the love seat!  Here's what happened.  She'd stand on her new chair and use the back of it as a ladder to climb onto the love seat...then she'd fall trying to climb back down.  So she got her first little pop on her hiney last night.  Everytime she stood up on her chair a little pop.  And before all you anti-spankers out there get all bent out of shape - it didn't hurt, it just startled her.  She'd drop her bottom lip and pout for a couple of seconds and then try it again!  After about the 5th time, she finally figured it out and decided it was better just to sit in her chair.  We'll see how long that lasts.

Our visit to Grandma and PawPaw Eneks' House

We spent the weekend with Grandma and Pawpaw Eneks' house.  Emrie had a blast.  She loves the stairs at their house.  She climbs up and down and up and down and up and down.  The up part is not so bad because she actually crawls up.  It's the going down part that I don't like.  We tried to teach her how to scoot down on her butt BUT she insists upon holding onto the handrail and trying to walk down all by herself.  She's so independent!  She also loves swinging.  Pawpaw and Brian spent Saturday afternoon with her outside while Chris (grandma) and I went to get our nails done.

We didn't have an appointment so she and I just took off down Louetta in search of the perfect nail salon.  The first one we stopped at couldn't get us in until 6 and it was only 3 - no way we could leave Emrie with Brian and Pawpaw for 3 extra hours unattended so we drove another block to the next nail salon, Le'Qui.  They worked us in in 20 minutes and it was AWESOME - we were scrubbed, rubbed, massaged, and painted - AWESOME right up until the point where my credit card got declined.  That's right declined.  So my relaxing delux mani/pedi all of a sudden became very stressful.  In fact, while Hyung was trying to put the finishing touches on my nails, I was on the phone with Brian having him look up our checking account online.  Turns out, when I requested a new debit card for Brian on Friday, they deactivated mine!  Well, better I find out at the nail salon with my mother-in-law than all by myself with a cart load of groceries at HEB.  It all ended well and our nails look fabulous!

What a morning!

Friday is Emrie's day to hang out with her Mufasa (my dad).  Daddy normally gets to our house about 7am but this morning I asked him to come a little early because I had so much stuff to do at the radio station.  He rolled in at 6:40am.  Perfect!  An extra 20 minutes goes a long way in radio.  So, I grab all my stuff and I'm ready to leave but before I do I poke my head in to check on Emrie.  She's up and starts chattering away at me.  I, of course, walk in and snatch her up for morning hugs and kisses (the best).  It's after that first kiss that I get a good whiff of her.  Whoo...she was a stinker...REALLY.  That's when I also notice her bed.  Emrie has had a world class blow out!  Poop everywhere.  My dad takes one look and says "I'll go fix breakfast while you clean her up."  Way to take the cowards path, Daddy!

So, I strip her down and put in her in the bath tub for a morning scrub down.  She loved it.  She loves baths in general.  While she's playing in the bubbles, I go about pulling off the linen off her bed and changing table then wipe everything down and put fresh lines back on.  Her room is ready to go.  I get Emrie dried off, dressed and ready for her day and I'm finally ready to leave for work.  Now, I'm late!

As I was rushing out the door, Emrie climbed up on her new unicorn she got in Kemah last weekend and started bouncing on it like her rocking horse.  It was awesome.  I managed to snap a picture with my cell phone before I sprinted out the door.  My big beautiful baby.  The love of my life!

When I got to the station, Roger pointed out that I was missing an earring and my zipper was down!  It's going to be a great day!

My Red High Heels

I've talked about them on the radio...now I've got to show them to you!  I know they're only shoes but I love them.  Is that weird that I love my shoes?  My husband says yes.  Women out there...you get it, right?!

This part is really going to make you laugh!  This morning I wanted to take a picture of my shoes so I could show you.  Well, it's really hard to get a good picture of my shoes when they're on my feet so I had to enlist Brian's help.  He was not excited.  Okay so here comes the funny part.  I'm standing in the living room with my pj's on and one red high heel trying to convince Brian to take a picture.  So, he finally does it.

I totally forgot that my other leg with my pajama pants on and my other foot with no red shoe on would also be in the picture!  Hilarious!  I took another one with both shoes on (and my pants rolled up) but I just had to share.  You'll also notice all of Emrie's toys in the background.  Our living room has been over run by her!

Lions and Tigers and Bears...Oh My!

Okay so it was only one bear and her cubs but still...

One of my co-workers, Jayson, and his family are vacationing in New Mexico.  Yesterday, as they were driving along the saw a mama bear and her two little cubs in the woods.  The picture is only of the mama bear because Jayson wasn't willing to actually get out of the car to take the picture.  I still think it's really cool.  Oh sure, we see deer and rabbits but a bear...oh my!

Updates from the weekend

We packed up and headed south this past weekend and went to visit our good friends Denise and Jason in Kemah.  Well actually, they live on Taylor Lake (with the astronauts) but it's just a short boat ride to Kemah.  We had a great time!  The guys went boating on Saturday and the ladies (including Emrie) went to the pool.  She had a blast.  Her Uncle Robert and Aunt Katherine got her the neatest floaty complete with a sun visor for her birthday so she was cruisin' the pool in style.  Saturday night we cooked fajitas and enjoyed the rain.  And then Sunday we got up early and boated over to the Kemah Boardwalk.  Aiden and Josiah (Denise and Jason's son) had a blast riding all the big kid rides.  Emrie and I (who could both ride for free since she was under a year and a half old) took in all the kiddie rides.  She loved the airplane ride.  The first time we rode it she sat next to me in the back of the plane.  Yes, it was a tight fit.  The second, third and fourth times, she rode in the front and me in the back.  She was so busy turning the wheel and pushing buttons that I'm not sure she actually realized the plane was going up and down.  She also liked the faris wheel and I'm not talking about the kiddie faris wheel.  We rode that one too but she was not impressed.  She wanted to go on the great big one...so she did that twice.  She never did warm up to the carousel.  I tried putting her on a horse but the minute it started going up and down she had me in a choke hold so we ended up sitting on the bench and going around and around and around.

A little background just for fun...
Denise and I have been friends since kindergarten.  We used to cruise the streets of Brenham and get into all kinds of trouble.  She is the closest thing I have to a sister and I simply adore her and her entire family!  I really wish we lived closer so we'd get to see each other more often.

I almost forgot to mention that Saturday night (after the fajitas) we celebrated my birthday with the most wonderfully fattening coconut pecan cake.  It was the bomb!  I spent an extra 30 minutes at the gym yesterday for that sin but man it was gooooood!

She ate what?

Yesterday I was getting new tires put on my car when Brian called me in a panic.  He had been giving Emrie a bath and stepped into her room to get her favorite bug hoodie towel and when he returned she had a bar of soap stuffed into her mouth!  He said he got the soap away from her and most of it out of her mouth but she must have swallowed some.  She was very upset and he couldn't get her to stop crying.

So there I am at the Firestone Store telling my friend Ray to shift into high gear because Emrie ate a bar of soap and I needed to get home.  The entire waiting room burst into laughter!  As I was paying the bill Brian called back and said that she had thrown up and was happy again.  In fact, she was eating a cookie and drinking some milk.  Life was good.

What a little patriotic ham...

I had a program last night at Texas A&M so Brian was in charge of feeding, bathing and getting Emrie to bed.  Brian doesn't believe in pj's for her.  He normally just puts her to bed in her diaper.  I was tickled to see the team USA logo on her little butt when I went in to check on her.  How cute is that?

Almost as cute as the picture Mrs. Alicia from Brazos Valley Kidz Academy sent yesterday afternoon.  Brian said when he went to pick Emrie up that she was walking around in Mrs. Alicia's sunglasses.  Mrs. Alicia was trying unsuccessfully to get Emrie to slow down long enough to get a picture of her.  So when Brian got there he picked her up and Mrs. Alicia took the picture.  What a little glamour girl.

I think we have a GHOST!!!

Last night I got up to check on Emrie.  As I was leaving her bedroom I noticed a light flickering under Aiden's bedroom door.  I opened the door to find that his TV was on!  While you may not find this initially weird or supernatural you might after I give you (in Paul Harvey's famous words) the rest of the story.

Aiden was not in his room nor was he staying with us.  He had not been at our house for more than a day!  That's right A DAY!  I think I would have noticed his TV on.  Brian's explanation is that maybe Aiden accidently set some kind of timer and the TV popped on as scheduled.  I'm not buying it.  I think we have a GHOST!

Jury Duty...

That's how I spent my Monday...ALL DAY MONDAY...doing my civic duty.  I was dismissed but it took all day to make that determination.  I actually knew one of the witnesses so I'm pretty sure that's what disqualified me.  Too bad.  I think it was going to be an interesting criminal case.  I figured if I was going to be there, I might as well be a juror and see it all the way through.  I was talking to Brian about it this morning - that's okay to do because I'm not a juror.  Anyway, we believe (this is just our guess) that the case actually involves a guy Brian works with who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident!  Isn't that crazy?!  What are the odds?  Now, I've got to google it to see if we're right.

On to a different subject...EMRIE!  I know most of you only read this thing for the baby updates : )  Well, Emrie was in a great mood this morning.  Lately, she's been waking up early and playing with her stuffed animals in her baby bed until we come in to get her. What a good baby.  I snapped a couple of pictures before Brian took her to Big School.   I have no idea what she was telling him in the one picture but it looks pretty serious.

Recap from the weekend...

Yes...it's true. Yesterday was my birthday! I turned the big 41.  I was going to lie about my age but then I thought better of it.  I have a couple of friends who are sweating the Big 4-0.To them and anyone else who is dreading their upcoming birthday I say embrace it and love it.  It really is just a number.  Of course I have to say that...I have a one-yr-old at home.  I can't get old!

Speaking of Emrie (my one-yr-old) she has now mastered climbing into the big rocking chair in her room and rocks! She is simply too smart for her own good.

Our ghost story part 2

So if you've been following my blog then you know all about Emrie's creepy little toy that keeps going off all by itself at night.  Well, this is chapter 2 of our ghost story...

Yesterday morning I was getting Emrie ready to go to day care when Brian comes into her room.  He's just kind of standing there watching me like he has something to say but doesn't know how.  You know this look ladies...the guilty look.  When he finally does speak our conversation goes something like this

Brian:  I don't want to freak you out but... (that's never good)
Brandie:  EYES WIDE
Brian:  but last night Emrie started crying
Brandie:  Uh huh...
Brian:  I could hear her on the monitor
Brandie:   Uh huh...
Brian:  I was about to get up and check on her when I heard someone say SHHHH
Brandie:  EYES EVEN WIDER
Brian:  I thought it was you til I looked over and you were tucked under the covers
Brandie:  Shocked into silence.  Eyes still wide
Brian:  Shrug
Brandie:  And you didn't think to get up and see who said "SHHHH"?
Brian:  She stopped crying so I figured it was okay.
Brandie:  (insert favortie cuss word here)

Brian thinks it's either his grandma or my grandma having a little fun with us.  I just think it's creepy.  I didn't sleep at all last night because every time Emrie so much as sighed I was anxiously waiting to hear a SHHH!

Doesn't seem to be bothering Emrie much.  This is a picture of her enjoying a morning graham cracker.  She looks happy and well rested and kind of sassy.

Mommy's Glasses...and GHOSTS!

Last night I was wearing my glasses around the house and Emrie kept trying to take them off of my face and put them on hers.  Brian was able to snap a quick picture before the magnifcation of my glasses blinded our sweet little baby!

Speaking of last night or I should say early this morning...around 12:30am one of Emrie's toys started going off all by itself.  I was in bed and I heard voices singing the ABC's.  I got up and found one of Emrie's toys in the living room lights blinking and song singing!  It freaked me out a little but once the song finished the toy stopped and it was done.  So, I thought, well maybe Judy (the dog) bumped the toy and that's why it started playing...but Judy was sound asleep at the foot end of our bed.  Creepy!

I checked on Emrie, who was also sound asleep, and went back to bed.  About 2 hours later the toy did it AGAIN!  This time Brian got up to see what was going on.  I was right behind him (yes I'm a chicken) as he stomped into the living room.  Same toy.  Same lights.  Same song.  I think he was a little surprised but simply reached down, turned off the toy and trudged back to the bedroom.  He said maybe it was just the batteries going bad.  Uh huh.  I've seen too many scary movies to buy into that rational.

So, I waited up for another few minutes and the toy did its thing again!  And this time Emrie's rocking horse started rocking and the her little monkey toy started banging its cymbals too!

Okay...okay...I'm kidding about that last part. Once Brian turned the toy off it never started up again but as I lay there in our bed trying to go back to sleep I'm pretty sure I heard the faint sound of cymbals clashing : )

Bath tub time! Not to be confused with bath time

Emrie loves hanging out with me in the bathroom.  When I'm getting ready for work in the morning or getting ready for bed in the evening, she's right there with me.  Unfortunately, she normally taking everything out of the cabinets and drawers and dumping it into the bath tub!  So, last night it hit me.  Why not just put her in the bath tub?  It worked!  I was able to take a quick shower without hurricane Emrie totally destroying the bathroom!  And, she was happy just playing in the tub...with no water.  Who would have thought?

My baby is sick AGAIN!

Poor Emrie is back home!  That's right...she was feeling better and went to Big School this morning but now she is sick and back home again!

I swear she was in a great mood this morning.  She seemed to be feeling better.  She was happy and playing and totally beautiful!  So, Brian took her to Big School.  Then around 10am Big School called and said she was sick and we need to come get her and fast!  She was throwing up and her temperature dropped to 95.  My stupid cell doesn't always work so by the time I got word Brian had already picked her up and was at the doctors office.  Dr. Lawrence was able to see her quickly.  He said she must have some kind of stomach bug on top of everything else.  By the time they left the doctors office, her temperature was back to normal and she wasn't throwing up anymore.  Brian took off the rest of the day to stay home with her and I'm planning to leave early too.  My poor sweet baby!  We have got to get her back to a healthy baby and soon!

Back on the road to recovery!

Emrie and Mufasa enjoying milk for breakfast

Ahhh sleep
Emrie is finally feeling better!  Yesterday, she stayed home with her Mufasa (my dad).  He said she had a good day but she would go from great to really bad in a matter of seconds.  For example:  He gave her a cookie.  She sat in the chair and ate the cookie as happy as a clam (whatever that means - clams never look that happy to me).  When she finished the cookie she stood up and started screaming.  She didn't want another cookie.  She didn't want milk.  She didn't want to be held.  She didn't want to be put down though either.  She was just upset.  He said Emrie had a couple of melt downs like that yesterday but they only lasted for a few minutes and then she was back to normal.  Last night she finally slept through the night.  She was in a great mood this morning.  And, today she's at Big School!!!  I sure hope she doesn't have any "melt downs" there.
